Thank you to my two friends who have bought my calendar Faces of China and therefore have assisted my scholarship for Tsering Dhundup a 12 year old boy in Shangri-La China attend the Tangka Art Centre. My 30% commission on the sale of these products will go to the scholarship.

I have just sent off my first contribution to the scholarship and the school year gets under way February 15 2011 and will be for four years. He will learn their traditional art and also have classes in English. I am looking forward to receiving progress reports.

Help for a young person in Shangri-La China

In November 2010 we visited Shangri-La in China. We were there for two days and it was very cold around 5c! We had on every layer of clothing that we could put on and then our plastic ponchos on top of that to try to keep the cold wind out.

Our guide Tony took us to visit a family in a village, which was indeed very interesting to see how they lived. The family of three generations made us very welcome, lit the fire in the big room and brought out Yak cheese for us to try.

You can see the mother here http://www.redbubble.com/people/susiepie/art/6453012-1-faces-of-china-5 and one of their daughters here http://www.redbubble.com/people/susiepie/art/6453039-1-children-of-china-6

Tony told us about a scholarship scheme he is involved with, wherein they help students that are passing their exams to be able to get further on in life. The family whom we visited, have a daughter that has been able to go onto University and now has a stable job as a result of the scholarship. Something that the family could not have afforded and provided.

I would like to raise funds to help another student and I have created a Zazzle shop and all commissions received from sales will go to the scholarship. I will be adding more work to the shop and lots more products. http://www.zazzle.com.au/susanmossart*

Back to work again!

The new year is under way and I have been creating a Zazzle shop.

2010 finished well with 5 weeks in China with my husband Ray and the last week a girls week with my sister Janette. Most memorable was Lhasa in Tibet, and my knee stood up to all the stairs really well.

Off to a watercolour workshop this week for two days doing birds and furry animals and just booked to do a abstract class in acrylics early if February. April will see me in Tasmania with five friends doing a 5 day watercolour workshop plus a few days of free time. Should get all the creativity going again.
