French Pussy Cat in a window

I took a photo of this cat sitting in a window, whilst walking with our group through some back lanes and streets of Arles in France. It inspired me to paint him (or was it a her) in watercolour (watercolor) I get lots of favourable comments about the piece. I hope you like him too! I have just created some more products for my Zazzle store using this artwork.

Sunday and a quiet day doing stuff!

Having a quiet day today doing stuff on the computer. Want to get onto ebay and get rid of excess stuff, but have to get it photographed so that is going to be my morning.

It is a nice cool day so more condusive to doing work. Going to heat up by the end of the week with high 30s and a 40 expected.

Tomorrow I have to get myself sorted to do a watercolour workshop on Tuesday doing soft and furry animals, should be fun.

A big surprise for me

Last October 2008 at the Watercolour Society of Western Australia Annual Awards Exhibition, I really surprised myself (and many others) by taking off the top prize with my painting of an iris. It is quite a good size 500cm x 500cm (19 3/4" x 19 3/4") before framing.

It was the first time I had worked on an easel standing up to the painting, and that I think contributed to a better flow with the brushes.

My sister in law was so excited on the night that she bought it, she did not want it to go out of the family. So every time we go to visit Lorelie we see my painting which is rather nice.

I took some weeks to come down to earth, and still have to pinch myself to realise "I did it". The trophy sits on the mantle piece until this coming October. Plus the next invitation will have one of my paintings on it, one of the privileges that comes with the prize. It is all pretty exciting stuff.
